‘Easy as Pie’ Cobbler
STEP 1:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
STEP 2:
CHOOSE YOUR FRUIT: fresh, frozen, or canned. It doesn’t matter. I made 4 cobblers and I chose crushed pineapple, diced pineapple, frozen blackberry, and frozen mixed berry.
STEP 3:
CHOOSE YOUR SIZE: Individual or Family. TOP: Pictured here are small individual baking dishes, which are great if each family member wants a different flavor. BOTTOM: Pictured is a 8″x8″foil baking pan, which is great for family and disposing of afterwards if you’re traveling to someone else’s house. NOT PICTURED: If you want to make a double batch, use a 9×13 pan. You simply need to double the ingredients. Again, disposable pans work great.
STEP 4:
FRUIT FIRST: Pour fruit into your desired baking dish. How much? I simply fill the bottom of the container I am using. Don’t go overboard here. You can use too much. Remember your batter will rise.
STEP 5:
BATTER – Mix equal parts: Flour, Sugar, and Milk. SMALL INDIVIDUAL BAKING DISH: 1/4 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 cup milk. 8″X8″BAKING DISH: 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. 9″X13″ BAKING DISH: 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar and 2 cups milk.
STEP 6:
VANILLA!!! Please use real vanilla not the imitation. Add 1/4 teaspoon for the individual size. Add 1/2 teaspoon for the 8″x8″ size. Add 1 teaspoon for the 9″x13″ size.
STEP 7:
BATTER: Pour batter on top of the fruit. There needs to be enough batter to cover all of the fruit. If you prefer more batter thrn you can certainly add more, just don’t fill it more than 1/2 full because it will expand during the baking process and overflow.
STEP 8:
CUT BUTTER INTO SMALL PATS: If you can buy butter already cut into pats, then the recipe will be even easier. Otherwise, stick butter is preferred and cut into thinly sliced pieces.
STEP 9:
LAYER YOUR BUTTER ON TOP: You will need 1/4 of a stick butter for individual baking dishes and almost 1 full stick of butter for family size baking dish.
STEP 10:
MIX – Cinammon and Sugar: Sprinkle on top of cobbler. How much? Whatever you like!
STEP 11:
AVOID MESSES: You will want something on the bottom rack of your oven to catch any overflow of cobbler. I used a cheap 11″x13″ aluminum baking sheet.
STEP 12:
COOKING TIME: Place uncooked cobbler in the over for 20 – 40 minutes, depending on how your oven cooks and how many you are cooking at one time. You will know its ready when it’s firm and light to medium brown on top.
